YALA, Aug 7 (TNA) – Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha opened a new government complex for southern border provinces amid tight security.
His delegation left Bangkok at Wing 6 in Don Muang district. They landed at Pattani airport and then traveled to Yala province. He was accompanied by Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on and Deputy Defence Minister Chaichan Changmongkol.
The Southern Border Provincial Government Center that Gen Prayut opened was developed with a 150-million-baht budget on the old building of Chang Li Hotel.
In the trip, the prime minister greeted local residents and government officials, was briefed on provincial development, handed remunerations for provincial Islamic heads’ contributions to provincial affairs and gave financial aid to victims of southern unrest incidents.
He also opened a help center for victims of southern violence, visited a center for children and women’s affairs and inspected the implementation of a durian management project at the central rubber market of Yala. (TNA)
