YALA, Dec 2 (TNA) – A landslide has damaged several vehicles parked behind the Betong Municipality building in Yala province, southern Thailand, as authorities continue to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall.
Rescue workers have successfully removed five vehicles from the landslide site, but three remain buried under the debris. As a precautionary measure, the area has been cordoned off to prevent further accidents.
While the situation in Yala has improved with the cessation of rainfall and a subsequent decrease in water levels, neighboring provinces continue to grapple with the aftermath of the floods.
In Narathiwat, the three main rivers are still flowing above normal levels, and authorities are closely monitoring a damaged section of a riverbank in Su-ngai Kolok district.
In a tragic incident, a two-year-old girl drowned in Su-ngai Kolok district after falling into a flooded area.
A landslide has also caused a section of a bridge in Raengae district to collapse, forcing authorities to close the road and reroute traffic.
As rescue teams continue to assist flood-affected communities, using flat-bottomed boats and jet skis to evacuate monks and villagers, officials have warned residents to remain vigilant, especially those living in low-lying areas. -819 (TNA)
