PHUKET, July 8 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited orphaned baby dugong Yamil, fed it and wished it healthy growth.
After opening a new underpass in the southern island province, at Gen Prayut went to the Phuket Marine Biological Center to see Yamil, the three-month-old male dugong that was washed ashore in Khlong Thom district of Krabi province on July 1.
HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya named it Yamil. The princess is supporting care for Yamil and another orphaned baby dugong Marium.
Gen Prayut fed Yamil with milk and inquired about its care. He also thanked all officials including veterinarians who took good care of orphaned baby dugongs. He said he wished them to grow fast and healthily.
A veterinarian at the marine biological center told the prime minister that Yamil was able to drink milk and eat seagrass. (TNA)
