BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) — Airports of Thailand PCL (AOT) announced King Power Duty Free Co won a bidding contest to operate the duty-free shop at Suvarnabhumi airport for another 10 years.
AOT opened the price envelops from three qualified contenders today and announced the bidding result right away.
The three were King Power Duty Free, the group of Bangkok Airways and Hotel Lotte, and the group of Royal Orchid Hotel (Thailand) and its British partner. They placed their financial return bids at 10.30am.
AOT vice president Wichai Bunyu later announced King Power Duty Free was the top scorer, followed by the Bangkok Airways group and the Royal Orchid group.
AOT did not announce the scores right away because there was a concern on a financial return throughout the concession period, which partly affected the winner’s score. Besides, AOT, as a listed company, must take precautions on releasing any information that might have impacts on share prices.
AOT’s revenue committee will consider the matter on June 12 and the AOT board will do so later.
This afternoon, AOT will announce the result of another bidding contest to operate commercial areas at Suvarnabhumi airport. Contenders are King Power Suvarnabhumi Co, Central Department Store Co and DFS Venture Singapore Co. (TNA)
