BANGKOK, Feb 26 (TNA) – A Dutch fugitive wanted over
charges of human trafficking, forced prostitution and tax evasion in his home
country, the Netherlands, has been arrested in Thailand.
Jacob Jan Schipper, 68, had been wanted and listed on
Interpol list for his crimes committed between January 1997 and March 2000.
Thai police traced and found him at a condominium in
Sattahip district of the eastern Chon Buri province.
Police said the investigators discovered money transactions
worth over Bt20 million to his Thai bank account. The authorities seized Bt1.5
million of cash in his apartment.
Schipper, who has also been charged with overstaying his
visa, is facing charges of human trafficking, forced prostitution, human
smuggling, as well as tax evasion and fraud in his home country.
Interpol notice shows Schipper had allegedly conspired to
force 11 women into prostitution and smuggle Brazilian women from the
Netherlands to another country for prostitution. (TNA)
