BANGKOK, Feb 18 (TNA) – The Thai Raksa Chart Party (TRC)
will submit a motion to the Constitution Court in time to defend itself over
the party’s possible dissolution, the party’s leader said on Monday.
Preechapon Pongpanich told reporters that his party’s legal
team was nearly complete the motion which must be submitted within seven days
after the Court accepted the request by Election Commission’s (EC).
The EC decided last week to ask the Court to rule on the
party’s dissolution over its controversial nomination of Princess Ubolratana,
King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s eldest sister, as its candidate for the premiership
in the May 24 general election.
The party’s defence motion compiled accounts and evidence concerning
the matter which would not be made public, Preechapon said.
He and the party’s executives would continue helping party
candidates in election rallies and campaigns, he said.
On Thursday, the Constitutional Court gave the party seven
days to defend itself after the EC alleged the party undermined the
constitutional monarchy system.(TNA)
