BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) — All 15 marine national parks reopened while 500 park rangers were helping people affected by tropical storm Pabuk.
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation reported the storm slightly damaged marine national parks.
The 15 marine national parks comprise:
Khao Luang National Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat province,
Tai Rom Yen National Park in Surat Thani province,
Than Sadet-Ko Pha-ngan National Park in Surat Thani,
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park in Surat Thani,
Khlong Phanom National Park in Surat Thani,
Kaeng Krung National Park in Surat Thani,
Mu Ko Chumphon National Park in Chumphon province,
Namtok Ngao National Park in Chumphon,
Mu Ko Ranong National Park in Ranong province,
Laem Son National Park in Ranong,
Lamnan Kra Buri National Park in Ranong,
Namtok Si Khit National Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat province,
Mu Ko Lanta National Park in Krabi province,
Mu Ko Similan National Park in Phangnga province, and
Hat Noppart Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park in Krabi.
They were closed on Jan 3-5. Officials were repairing damaged facilities and cleaning the parks and their beaches where tourists were already allowed to visit. All park officials were safe.
Songtham Suksawang, national park director of the department, said the temporary closure prevented untoward incidents as there were no casualties in national parks during the storm.
The chief of the department deployed 500 rangers from unaffected national parks to help storm victims and repair residences in the South. (TNA)
