NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Jan 7 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha paid respect to the volunteer who died in a mission to rescue victims of tropical storm Pabuk, and also ordered full-scale assistance for affected people.
Gen Prayut visited house number 116 in Moo 7 village of Khlong Noi sub-district in Pak Phanang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat. There he laid a wreath and paid respect to Preecha Jankaeo, 69, the volunteer who died while rescuing storm victims.
The prime minister expressed his condolences and gave moral support to Amnuay Jankaeo, the widow, and her family. The prime minister also gave financial assistance and ordered officials to take good care of the family because its head sacrificed his life for the public.
The prime minister also greeted local people and said he had monitored the storm and related situations and had been worried about affected people.
He promised full-scale assistance for them, saying damage surveys would be concluded in 15 days, public utilities would be repaired within seven days and damaged houses would be fixed within a month.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said people in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces were still affected by the storm and soldiers were deployed to help them. The government estimated overall damage at about 5 billion baht.
Gen Prawit promised that rehabilitation would be completed as soon as possible. (TNA)
