BANGKOK, Dec 26 (TNA) – The Cabinet on Tuesday approved in principle to develop the 50-km electric train project in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Government spokesman Buddhipongse Punnakanta said the Cabinet meeting approved a royal decree to allow the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand to develop an electric railway in this northeastern province.
The initial study showed that there should be the light rail transit in Nakhon Ratchasima. The planned 50-km. light rail project will have 30 stations in total on three routes, including the Green Line, the Orange Line and the Purple Line.
Agencies concerned will conclude the budget for the light rail project and submit to the Cabinet for consideration later. The construction will take about five years and will start after the budget is approved. (TNA)
