CHAIYAPHUM, Dec 3 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha is visiting the northeastern province of Chaiyaphum to inspect the planned construction site of a reservoir and follow up implementation of water management plans.
The prime minister was briefed about the Lam Saphung reservoir project under the royal initiative of His Majesty late Kign Bhumibol and presided over the opening of the project implementation.
In October, the Cabinet approved to proceed with the construction of Lam Saphung reservoir in Chaiyaphum province’s Nong Bua Daeng district with the budget of 3.1 billion baht.
The construction is set to start next year and will be finished in six years. The reservoir will supply water for agricultural purposes and tap water production.
About 2,000 women performed a traditional dance to welcome the prime minister. He met 20,000 local people there before going to the Tat Ton national park in the provincial seat in the afternoon.
Gen. Prayut is scheduled to preside over the opening of a weir and the solar-powered water distribution system there.
The system is the first of its kind in Thailand to use the solar energy in supplying water for forestation. (TNA)
