NARATHIWAT, Nov 29 (TNA) – A drug smuggling gang in
disguise of a family vacationers has been busted by Thai police while trying to
take 710,000 methamphetamine pills worth more than Bt35 million baht to
southern Narathiwat province.
The seven gang members who travelled in the van from Bangkok
to Su-ngai Kolok have been arrested and charged with drug procession for
illicit trade.
Police said in Thursday press briefing that they were
members of a major drug network in Thailand’s southernmost provinces. In the guise of family members, they hid the
drugs in a special compartment under the van roof before being arrested on
Monday, police said.
All of the suspects are residents of Narathiwat, Yala and
Pattani.
