BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) — Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Grisada Boonrach presented royal development projects for food security at a meeting of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome.
Mr Grisada mentioned the royal projects and government work in the 45th Session of the Committee on World Food Security at the FAO headquarters.
The cited projects and government work concerned efforts to achieve the UN’s 2nd Sustainable Development Goal for Zero Hunger.
Mr Grisada referred to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s projects to improve soil, water and other farming-related resources for sustainable food security.
He also mentioned King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s initiatives to proceed with King Bhumibol’s projects as well as a school lunch project of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to help pupils in remote areas.
The minister told the FAO’s meeting that Thailand was the world’s 11th biggest exporter of foods and farm products and the Thai government was seriously working towards the Zero Hunger goal.
A representative of the FAO told the meeting that Thailand successfully promoted food security and the no-hunger goal through various development projects of its government and the civil sectors. (TNA)
