BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) – The former chief and colleagues of the agitated police inspector are trying to convince him to come out of his house and surrender but to no avail after he refused to be taken to hospital for mental illness treatment and started firing multiple shots in residential area in Sai Mai district.
The gunman is still hiding in his house and gives no response to the call from the police, who have surrounded his house since yesterday. The police fired tear gas in an attempt to capture him to clear the area so that they can let residents in the neighbourhood return to their homes.
His superior officer spoke to the gunman through a loudspeaker that he would be transferred back to work at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau. His close colleague sang a song to calm him down.
Meanwhile, Deputy National Police Chief Pol.Gen. Torsak Sukwimol will come to the scene this morning to control the situation and to end the standoff as soon as possible. (TNA)
