BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) – Hong Kong agrees to give support
for ‘Thailand Cyberport,’ a project for innovation and digital technology
promotion of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak held a
meeting with a private business mission from Hong Kong, led by chairman of the
Hong Kong Trade Development Council Peter Lam, on the prospects of investment
in the EEC.
Mr. Somkid said the Hong Kong delegation showed their
interests in exploring investment opportunities in the country, especially
Thailand Cyberport designed to facilitate startups.
The project would be a main topic in the meeting of Thai and
Hong Kong senior officials in October, he said.
Mr. Somkid said the visit by Hong Kong delegation reflected
a joint commitment to link up Thailand with the Greater Bay Area (GBA) –
comprising Guangdong province, Hong Kong, and Macao, under the Belt and Road
Initiative (BRI).
Mr. Peter Lam conveyed an invitation by Hong Kong’s chief
executive Carrie Lam for Thai delegates to participate in the BRT meeting in
Hong Kong this year.(TNA)
