BANGKOK, July 23 (TNA) – New business registrations in
Thailand slightly decreased 2 percent in June as the government aims for over
70,000 new firms this year.
Sorada Lerttharpachit, Deputy Director-general of the
Business Development Department, told a press briefing on Tuesday that the
number of new business registrations totaled 5,586 in June, dropping from 5,942
recorded in May.
The top three sectors for new business registration had
remained building/construction, property and restaurants, driven by higher
investment and urbanization, since the start of 2019, she said.
For the first half of the year, the number of new business
registrations topped 38,222, up 2 percent from the same period last year,
Sorada added.
The Department viewed that business registration was on pace
to reach the target of 70,000 this year, propelled by stimulus measures
expected from the new government, said Sorada.(TNA)
