SAMUT SAKHON, May 25 (TNA) – Concerned officials are now using heavy trucks to
remove a large amount of water hyacinths which have blocked water draining in
Mahachai Canal in Samut Sakhon province.
The water weed has clogged the canal for over a week
and it could affect the marine life along the coast as the canal connects to
the end of the Thachin River before it
flows into the Gulf of Thailand.
The provincial governor said to destroy hyacinth is
not an easy job, especially during high tides.
Several meetings among related provincial officials
have been held to find ways to get rid
of hyacinths, which grow very fast during this time of the year. (TNA)
