BANGKOK, Feb 23 (TNA) – The Election Commission has projected that some 80 per cent of over 51 million eligible voters would exercise rights in the March 24 general elections.
Deputy Interior Minister Sutee Markboon presided over a meeting on election preparation on Friday, attended by provincial governors.
He said there are more than 51 million eligible voters while over 92,000 polling units would be set up nationwide. The government sets the target that 80 per cent of total voters would cast their votes.
Invalid ballots is projected at the maximum of 2 per cent, he said, adding that concerned authorities will launch public relations campaigns with an aim to increase voter turnout to 80 per cent, up 5 per cent from the previous general elections in 2011. (TNA)
