BANGKOK, Dec 6 (TNA) – Police arrested a Canadian and a Briton for allegedly producing cannabis oil and paste and seized their assets worth 140 million baht.
Deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Sriworakhan said British Joseph Trooley and Canadian Kulik David were arrested in Pattaya after a raid at their plant in Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province. There police seized 70.22 kilograms of cannabis oil, 6.62 kilograms of cannabis paste, chemicals and equipment for cannabis oil production.
Police also impounded their assets worth 140 billion baht including houses, vehicles, condominiums and a water theme park in Nong Bua Lam Phu province.
Police found that they had exported cannabis oil to Belgium once, smuggled five tons of compressed cannabis out of the country and trafficked heroine in 2012, Pol Gen Chalermkiat said.
Two Thai suspects were also arrested, believed to be in the same gang.
One of the suspects told police Mr David funded the production and Mr Toole controlled it.
Both foreigners had stayed in the country for at least one year. A Japanese buyer ordered the seized cannabis from them and they planned delivery at the Laem Chabang port. (TNA)
