BANGKOK, DEC 6 (TNA) – Ceremonies were held all over the
kingdom of Thailand Wednesday to mark the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s
Birthday, which is also observed as the national Father’s Day and the National
Day.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha led an alms-giving ceremony
at Sanam Luang in Bangkok Wednesday morning.
The ceremonial ground outside the Grand Palace is also the
venue of exhibition dedicated to the late king’s numerous works during his
lifetime. It is divided into different
fields of science that the king had adopted to his royal projects including
natural resource development.
King Bhumibol’s birthday anniversary is also recognized
internationally as World Soil Day.
Elsewhere across Thailand people joined religious rites and
merit-making activities marking the late King’s birthday, remembering the
King’s lifetime devotion to the well-beings of his subjects.
Over 1,300 people volunteered in street cleaning and
landscaping works at Bangkok City Hall and surrounding areas in honoring King
Bhumibol.
After the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, or King Rama IX,
the Cabinet in February 2017 acknowledged the Royal Command to observe December
5 as Thailand’s National Day. (TNA)
