BANGKOK, Nov 29 (TNA) – The new electoral constituency boundaries have been announced in the Royal Gazette, paving the way for the general election, tentatively scheduled for Feb 24 next year.
There are 350 constituencies, including 30 in the capital.
After the announcement, the political parties will begin selecting candidates for the poll.
The Election Commission (EC) completed the task to redrawing the constituency boundary under the order, issued by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).
Deputy EC Secretary-General, Nat Laosisavakul said the EC’s work adheres to the law and the regulations. A meeting between the NCPO and political parties will be held on Dec 7.
The political restrictions were partially lifted in September to allow political parties to hold meetings and select party executives. It is expected that the ban will be totally lifted during the Dec 7 meeting. (TNA)
