SAMUT SAKHON, June 24 (TNA) – Thai Red Cross Society has reached
out to migrant communities to provide healthcare information and education to
fight the spread of the novel coronavirus.
With helps from the International Committee of the Red Cross
(ICRC), the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the
UNICEF, a community-based programme has been launched for migrant workers,
mostly from Myanmar, in Samut Sakhon province.
Health care information and training have been given to the
high-risk community. Counseling and
education materials have been provided for the migrant workers who were forced
out of work, placed under quarantine and facing with other health issues.
Local community health volunteers have helped spread information
about the precautionary measures against the virus in their communities.
The Thai Red Cross Society has also handed out 800,000 face
masks, 50,000 bottles of hand sanitisers and 20,000 packages of relief supplies
to the migrant workers. (TNA)
