BANGKOK, Oct 25 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha on Friday chaired a meeting of a committee responsible for
organizing the upcoming 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in November.
Representatives of related agencies reviewed the preparation
and security plans for the final ASEAN Summit under Thailand’s tenure as ASEAN
chair from November 2 to 4.
The meeting acknowledged the progress and readiness for the
summit including security and transportation procedures for world leaders.
The opening of the ASEAN Summit will take place on November
3, followed by ASEAN Plus Three Summit on the next day.
Government spokesman Narumon Pinyosinwat said leaders of 10
ASEAN countries and seven dialogue partners had confirmed that they would
attend the summits. The government still
waited for the US to confirm President Donald Trump’s attendance.
The Interior Ministry, the Bangkok Metropolitan
Administration and the Royal Thai Police are among the agencies and bodies
responsible for carrying out the organization and security measures.
The Royal Thai Police earlier said up to 10,000 police
