TOKYO, Oct 24 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan during his visit to the country to attend the Ceremony of the Enthronement of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito (Sokuirei Seiden-no-gi).
During the visit, General Prayut congratulated Japan, on behalf of the Thai Government and people, on the auspicious occasion of the Enthronement Ceremony which was fittingly held by the Japanese Government, and added that this year is also an auspicious year of Thailand with the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, held earlier in May.
He also expressed confidence that Japan would be quickly rehabilitated and restored from the recent disaster caused by Super Typhoon Hakibis through its excellent disaster management plan under the leadership of Prime Minister Abe.
The Japanese Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister of Thailand for attending the Sokuirei Seiden-no-gi, and looked forward to seeing the Thai Prime Minister at the 35th ASEAN Summit early next month.
Both parties came to terms in pushing forward mutual cooperation in human resource development, investment promotion, promotion of S-Curve industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), development of Smart City, environmental management, free trade promotion, and development of the third countries, as well as acceleration of RCEP negotiation, TPP participation, and Mekong-Japan cooperation.
Toward the end of the meeting the Prime Minister affirmed Thailand’s readiness to host 11th Mekong Japan Summit on November 4, 2019, as the country strives to work closely with Japan in executing implementations under the “Tokyo Strategy 2018 for Mekong-Japan Cooperation” and “Mekong-Japan Initiative for SDGs toward 2030”.
Later on Wednesday, Prime Minister and spouse attended a Banquet hosted by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and spouse in honor of Sokuirei Seiden-no-gi’s attendees, and left Haneda Airport in Tokyo to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 4.50am.
