NONTHABURI, Oct 2 (TNA) – The Department of Livestock Development has declared part of Nonthaburi’s provincial seat a temporary rabies epidemic zone.
The announcement bans movement of dogs, cats and animal carcasses without permission.
Violators face two years in jail or a 40,000 baht fine under the Animal Epidemic Act. B.E.2558.
The ban came after reports of the rabies outbreak in Talad Kwan sub-district in Nonthaburi provincial seat.
The outbreak zone covers the Nakhonnon Witthaya School3, the Nakhon-in Temple in Suan Yai sub-district to Nakhon-in Road and Phibun Songkhram Road in the Nakhon Nonthaburi municipality.
The rabies outbreak zone remains in effect to Oct 24.
People are required to alert the authorities if they see animals die suspiciously and can bring their pets to get free vaccination at the district livestock office. (TNA)
