BANGKOK, Sept 2 (TNA) –Thailand and South Korea signed six government-to-government agreements for their comprehensive cooperation.
The signing followed the meeting of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The agreements concern cooperation on water management, Korean language education, classified military information, industrial affairs, railway affairs and smart city development.
Gen Prayut said the visit of the South Korean president boosted bilateral partnerships that would support the policies of both countries and regional security.
Both sides also agreed to increase bilateral and regional investments and Thailand welcomed South Korea’s interest in light rail projects in tourist provinces of Thailand, the prime minister said.
President Moon thanked the Thai government for inviting him as its first foreign national leader to pay the visit. He also said that Thailand and South Korea agreed to push for mutual prosperity and regional peace especially through their bilateral agreement on military information cooperation.
On the occasion the South Korean president presented South Korea’s peace medals to representatives of 10 Thai soldiers who had fought in the Korean War in 1953 to praise the dedication of Thailand as the first Asian nation to help South Korea in the time of its crisis, that contributed to its present prosperity.
