NAN, Oct 24 (TNA) – Local authorities are seeking blankets and winter clothes for poor people, living in mountainous areas in the northern province of Nan as the winter is coming.
Head of the disaster prevention and mitigation office in Nan, Narong Inso said the temperature has dropped in many areas.
Officials from agencies concerned have conducted survey on vulnerable groups such as low income earners, physically challenged persons and the elderly as they would be affected by the upcoming cold spell.
Initially, they estimate that about 120,000 people in 15 districts are likely impacted by the cold weather.
Most affected residents live in the northern part of the province including Pua, Tha Wang Pha, Bor Kluea and Na Noi districts.
The private sector has offered 15,000 blankets but it is still not enough. Local authorities are procuring blankets and winter clothes for them. (TNA)
