BANGKOK, Nov 28 (TNA) – A joint operation by Bangkok Metropolitan Police, the Department of Health Service Support (DHSS), and local police has resulted in the crackdown of an illegal Chinese-owned beauty clinic in the RCA area.
The clinic, operating under the name “Saloon Jek,” offered a wide range of services including surgery, injections, massages, spas, hair styling, nail care, and unusual massages, all without the necessary licenses.
Following a tip-off regarding a foreign national illegally operating a clinic in the RCA area, authorities raided the establishment. Expanding their investigation, they discovered another similar facility named “YF Salon” in the Huai Khwang area.
Upon inspection, authorities found a six-story building, with each floor dedicated to different services. The fifth floor housed a room equipped for illegal service, including facial injections. Seven individuals, both Chinese and Tai Yai people, were arrested and charged. Seized evidence included promotional brochures, QR codes for payments, massage logs, receipts, white gowns used for cosmetic procedures, used saline solutions, needles, and medical waste.
During the raid, a Chinese woman initially claimed to be a customer but later confessed to being the owner when confronted by employees.
She admitted to operating the business without any licenses and chose Thailand due to its lower competition compared to China. Furthermore, she revealed that the individuals performing the procedures were not qualified medical professionals and that the medical gowns used were purchased from Taobao, a popular Chinese online marketplace.
Police have issued a stern warning to individuals seeking cosmetic procedures at unlicensed clinics. They emphasized the risks associated with using unsterilized equipment and substandard products, which could lead to serious health complications, including facial deformities, blindness, skin infections, and even death. -819 (TNA)
