BANGKOK, Aug 6 (TNA) – The Deposit Protection Agency (DPA) said deposit protection would be limited at 1 million baht per depositor per financial institution at 35 financial institutions on Aug 11.
Songpol Chevapanyaroj, president of the agency, said that from Aug 11 onwards deposit protection for those who deposited their money with financial institutions under the Deposit Protection Agency Act would be limited at 1 million baht per depositor per financial institution. The protection will cover 82.07 million depositors who form 98.03% of all depositors.
He said DPA played important roles in deposit protection for the depositors that were Thai and foreign individuals and juristic persons. The deposit protection law covered 18 Thai commercial banks, 12 branches of foreign banks, two finance companies and three credit fonciers, Mr Songpol said. (TNA)
