CHIANG MAI, April 22 (TNA) – About 20 nuns, mostly elderly ones, at a single monastery were confirmed with COVID-19.
The nuns who were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus at the same time practiced Buddhism at one monastery in Pa Daed sub-district of Muang Chiang Mai district. They were admitted at Chiang Mai Hospital and health workers had yet to find the source of their infection.
The northern province logged as many as 237 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours due mainly to clusters of COVID-19 cases at governmental organizations. The total cases in Chiang Mai rose to 2,819.
Meanwhile, the eastern province of Chanthaburi recorded 22 new cases in 24 hours.
They were from a big cluster of partygoers in Klong Narai sub-district of Muang Chanthaburi district. An earlier infected person from Chon Buri province attended a party of his relatives in Chanthaburi which already accumulated 96 COVID-19 cases. (TNA)
