MAHA SARAKHRAM, Feb 18 (TNA) – The first Thai doctor who died of COVID-19 was in Maha Sarakham province and he had earlier examined patients from a COVID-19 cluster in the northeastern province.
A charity foundation named Khun Weero Kusol Songkroh announced the death of Dr Panya Hanphanitphan on its Facebook page. He was the 18th COVID-19 case of Maha Sarakham and contracted the disease during his examination of patients who had been infected with COVID-19 in a feast.
Dr Panya examined three people with respiratory symptoms, later confirmed with COVID-19, at his clinic on Jan 13, 14 and 25.
He learned in the evening of Jan 28 that one of his patients had COVID-19. He closed the clinic and started his own quarantine. In the morning of Jan 29 he sought his first COVID-19 test which returned negative.
On Jan 31 he had muscle pain and felt feverish. On Feb 2 he sought the second COVID-19 test which confirmed his COVID-19 infection.
He was admitted to Mahasarakham Hospital and then referred to Srinagarind Hospital in Khon Kaen province about a week ago. He was pronounced dead at about 1.30am today. (TNA)
