ฺBANGKOK, Feb 2 (TNA) – Myanmar and Thai demonstrators protested against the coup d’etat in Myanmar in front of the Myanmar embassy.
The rally started on Sathon Nua Road in Bang Rak district at about 3pm yesterday with Myanmar people and members of a demonstration group called We Volunteer. They read statements to condemn the coup d’etat in Myanmar.
Demonstrators mentioned the coup in the early morning of Feb 1 and the arrest of high-level government officials, ministers, politicians and many people. They accused the Myanmar military of denying election-based democracy and preventing representatives from constitutional amendment.
Police from the Yannawa station and riot police were called into the area to disperse the protesters. During the attempt, explosion-like sounds were heard.
Demonstrators threw objects at police. Nine policemen were injured. (TNA)
