SA KAEO, April 23 (TNA) – A 47-year-old Thai woman survived being bitten by a large king cobra while foraging for mushrooms and then carried the dead reptile to the hospital with her for identification.
Supin, from Sa Kaeo province, was in a eucalyptus forest near the Khlong Khan Tho reservoir with relatives on April 19 when she encountered the cobra, which weighed 4.6 kilograms.
According to her account, the cobra lunged at her. While she dodged the first strike, she fell backward and was bitten on the leg and then the knee, sustaining significant wounds from the snake’s fangs.

Supin said she fought back with her bare hands, kicking the cobra’s neck and stomping on it before grabbing its neck and holding it down.
After calling her relatives for help, who then struck the snake, they tied a cloth above her bites and rushed her to the hospital. Remarkably, Supin carried the dead cobra with her during the two-and-a-half-hour journey to Somdej Phrayupparat Sa Kaeo Hospital.
Upon arrival, doctors treated her wounds and administered antivenom. Her condition has since improved. -819 (TNA)
