BANGKOK, Sept 26 (TNA) – A deputy spokesman of the Office of the Attorney-General said that a teacher who hit kindergarteners at a well-known school in Nonthaburi province was considered as committing physical assault and her colleagues who failed to help the young could be prosecuted for facilitating the crime.
Kosolwat Intujanyong, the deputy spokesman, said the teacher who used physical force against kindergarteners at the school in Nonthaburi was considered as violating Section 295 of the Criminal Code that prohibited people from causing injury to others in body or mind and the offence carried a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine of up to 40,000 baht.
Besides, other teachers who appeared in video clips of the physical assault could be prosecuted for facilitating the crime if they proved to be aware of the act and fail to stop it, Mr Kosolwat said.
Many parents of affected kindergarteners filed their complaint at the Chaiyapruek police station in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi yesterday, against the teacher who attacked their children in their classroom.
Affected children became very scared to go to the school. Surveillance camera footage showed several students were attacked by the female teacher identified as Joom in a classroom between 10am and noon on Sept 23 and other teachers apparently tolerated the act. (TNA)
