BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) – The Education Ministry will assess resumption of full services at schools and is ready to close some schools if there is risks for spread of Covid-19, said Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan.
Before the first meeting of the new Cabinet line-up on Thursday, Nataphol said as the state schools resumed full services today, the Covid-19 control measure for students to record their trips after school was very important.
It will help in contact tracing to solve the problem immediately if it occurs, he added.
The government is confident that it can reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the country but it remains vigilant to prevent a second wave particularly in schools. International schools resumed full services at the beginning of this week and today, state and other private schools followed suit.
The minister said every school can shift to the new normal of teaching or close if an outbreak occurs.
The ministry will evaluate potential risks while full services at schools continue and have contingency plan to handle the problem.
Speaking about border schools, he said the ministry is waiting for the guidelines from the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
Initially, under Covid-19 control measures, quarantine places will be provided for students, crossing borders to attend classes and they will not be allowed to return home in their countries after entering Thailand. (TNA)
