BANGKOK, Dec 25 (TNA) – The Department of Transportation is preparing to extend the free service period for the Pink Line monorail after an accident related to the conductor rail collapse caused service suspension.
Deputy Transport Minister Surapong Piyachote has clarified that the incident on Sunday morning involving the Pink Line monorail system along Tiwanon Road in Nonthaburi is due to the demolition of construction from another project.
They are considering extending the free service period to compensate for the service disruption caused by the unforeseen incident.
This incident has affected the Pink Line project and serves as a lesson for all parties involved. In the future, advance notification and signed acknowledgment will be required for any construction or demolition activities.
BTS management confirms that the Pink Line uses the world’s best system and is currently attempting to source parts globally for expedited repairs to resume normal service at all stations. They anticipate that the process will take no more than 7 days.
The 34.5 –km monorail line connecting Min Buri in eastern Bangkok and Khae Rai in Nonthaburi opened in November, earlier scheduled to offer free rides until Jan 2, 2024. – 819 (TNA)
