BANGKOK, Aug 10 (TNA) – The country logged a new record of 235 COVID-19 fatalities in 24 hours while there were 19,843 new cases.
The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration reported that there were 235 new COVID deaths on Monday and the 19,843 new cases over the same period included 19,445 cases among general people and 398 cases among prison inmates.
On Monday, 22,806 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 211,223 patients remained at hospitals. Since April, there have been 767,088 COVID-19 cases in the country.
In Chiang Mai province, its communicable disease committee told donors not to hand out food to COVID-affected people on roadsides after recipients had flocked to compete for handouts and posed risks of COVID-19 transmission.
Such donors were required to seek permission from local administrative organizations that would then deploy officials to secure order, screen body temperatures and ensure social distancing. The donors who ignored the regulation would be fined for 20,000 baht. (TNA)
