BANGKOK, Oct 9 (TNA) — Household economy slightly improved in September thanks to economic stimulus measures from the government, according to the Kasikorn Research Center.
The center said that its Household Economic Condition Index rose from 36.4 in August to 38.1 last month and its three-month expected Household Economic Condition Index went up from 38.4 in August to 39.7 in September.
Economic activities were picking up in accordance with eased business lockdowns and measures to stimulate domestic tours and consumption.
However, the center said, the indices remained below 50 and were lower than their pre-COVID levels. That showed households’ economic concerns.
Thai households were worried about their purchasing power at present and in the next three months because the coronavirus disease 2019 was affecting income and employment. Thai households were also concerned about debt repayment. The center found from its survey that most Thai households registered for second-phase assistance for small debtors.
The center said that continuously issued economic stimulus measures from the government were inspiring household spending in the fourth quarter of this year. (TNA)
