BANGKOK, Sept 29 (TNA) – The government is confident that the MotoGP 2022 World Championship in Buri Ram province will stimulate the economy in both short and long terms, according to a spokeswoman.
Deputy government spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul said the event would take place at Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram from Sept 30 to Oct 2 and Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul would open it and present trophies on Oct 2.
“The deputy prime minister is confident that the world motorcycle racing championship will stimulate the economy of the country which is recovering after the Covid-19 pandemic. It will benefit short-term economy because of the arrivals of Thai and foreign tourists who will be spending at hotels, eateries and tourist destinations in the province that hosts the event and in nearby provinces. Money will be distributed in localities,” Ms Traisuree said.
Regarding long-term benefits, the deputy government spokeswoman said, the Tourism Authority of Thailand would have racers in the event practice Muay Thai at the Rajadamnern Stadium and their practices would be presented through all channels to more than 800 million viewers in 207 countries during this weekend.
Besides, TAT would open the “Amazing Thailand Festival at ThaiGP” pavilion during the racing event to introduce Thai tourist attractions to local and foreign tourists, Ms Traisuree said. (TNA)
