LOEI, Nov 25 (TNA) – Construction of Chiang Khan skywalk on the bank of the Mekong River is expected to be completed before the New Year, said the governor of Loei province.
The 80-metre-high glass skywalk, which equals to the height of a 30-storey-tall building is being built at the scenic viewpoint, where the Heung River converges with the Mekong River in Chiang Khan district.
The place, overlooking the other side of the river on the Lao soil gives visitors a panoramic view of the two colored river.
The landscape at the existing standing Buddha statue there has been also beautified under the 28-million-baht project in total.
Loei governor, Chaiwat Chuenkosum said the government approved the budget for the construction of the skywalk to be the 2020 New Year gift for the people and the new landmark of this northeastern province for tourism promotion.
The construction started in June, 2018 and was supposed to be finished in Oct 6, 2019 according to the original plan.
However, the contract was postponed to ensure the safety in construction as the area is located on high and steep slopes. (TNA)
