BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) — Police are seriously tackling street racers nationwide and conducting online investigation to look for street racing appointments.
Assistant national police chief Pol Lt Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat had a video conference with representatives of all provincial police regions and ordered them to seriously stop street racing in their provinces.
Pol Lt Gen Damrongsak said that the serious suppression was successful because since June more street racers had been arrested and police had received a smaller number of street racing complaints especially in major provinces including Nakhon Ratchasima.
“There will be more checkpoints. Detectives will use social media to look for appointments of street racing for effective suppression. Police have set up their provincial centres to tackle street racing in their provinces in particular. Laws will be strictly enforced from now until the end of this year because there will be many festivals in many areas,” the assistant national police chief said.
From June 27 to Oct 27, 1,157 street racers were arrested and 224 parents of street racers and 80 web page administrators were prosecuted for supporting street racing. Eight informants were rewarded for tipping police off street racing, Pol Lt Gen Damrongsak said. (TNA)
