BANGKOK, Oct 16 (TNA) – Parts of the high-speed train project, linking Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-tapao airports is expected to be ready for use in 2023 at the soonest, said Kanit Saengsuphan, secretary-general of the Eastern Economic Corridor Board.
The EEC board meeting acknowledged the plan to accelerate the handover of land for the project construction.
If the handover of the land goes as planned, the Phaya Thai station – Suvarnabhumi- U-Tapao will be able to operate at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024, said Kanit.
Meanwhile, the section from Phaya Thai station – Don Mueang Airport is expected to operate later at the end of 2024 – 2025 due to the need to remove large-scale infrastructure.
A sub-committee, headed by permanent secretary for transport was set up during today’s meeting to speed up the handover of the land for the high speed train project.
Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group has confirmed its consortium will sign a contract with the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to develop the 224-billion-baht high-speed train project linking three airports on Oct 25. (TNA)
