TRANG, July 4 (TNA) – The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) is setting up a live stream for Marium, the orphan baby dugong, found stranded in May and now receiving daily care in the waters from officials around Libong Island in Trang.
Marium’s photos, showing her being fed and cradled by the veterinarians went viral on social media, capturing public attention to care about marine animals.
Officials are installing the Internet network and CCTV cameras to launch a 24-hour livestream of the growing baby dugong, which will be under care for at least one year.
Her life and activities such as milk feeding, health check-ups, sea grass eating will be broadcast live by the end of this week.
The six-month-old dugong will be trained to be able to survive on her own. So far, she has learned not to get stranded on the beach anymore.
Another challenge is how she can digging out the seagrass by herself. (TNA)
