BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) – The government will organize large-scaled entertainment events in all provinces on May 22-28 to celebrate the coronation of King Rama X. In Bangkok, the activities were set at Sanam Luang.
Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said that there would be a main stage and two small stages for the performances at Sanam Luang. The performances were set from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. There will be concerts including those of Thai classical music as well as musicals, traditional plays, light-and-sound shows, and performances from other countries including Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, India and China.
A highlight, Mr Vira said, would be Khon masked dances that would involve about 5,000 performers for three episodes of the Ramakien epic. The shows would be lived televised to 170 countries.
Rehearsals of the masked dances were set at the Bangkok National Museum at 6pm on May 18. Dress rehearsals for the masked dances and other opening performances were scheduled at Sanam Luang at 6pm on May 21. A religious ceremony to seek blessing for the activities would take place at Sanam Luang at 7.29am on May 21, Mr Vira said. (TNA)
