BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) — The Interior Ministry invited people to enjoy grand performances to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty the King, set nationwide on May 22-28.
Chatchai Phromlert, permanent secretary of the ministry, said the Interior Ministry together with the Culture Ministry supported the celebrative performances that would begin in all provinces this evening.
According to him, provincial authorities chose the performances that reflect local cultures, arts and identities which have been passed on through generations. There will also be contemporary performances to interest spectators of all age groups.
Mr Chatchai said there would be Lanna-styled dances, drum shows and other performances to represent the North. To show off central plain cultures, there will be long drum dances and Thai classic music among other performances. National artists will perform Mor Lam songs in addition to performances from a Vietnamese association in Thailand and Pong Lang dances to show off northeastern cultures. To represent the South, there will be Nora and Ronggeng dances as well as shadow puppetry.
Mr Chatchai invited people to see the celebrative performances, saying they showed Thai cultures and loyalty to His Majesty the King. (TNA)
