BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) — Most surveyed workers want the new government to raise the minimum daily wage to 400 baht.
Bangkok University conducted the opinion survey on minimum wages on 1,160 workers in greater Bangkok and found that 61.7% of the respondents wanted the 400-baht minimum daily wage.
Of them, 42.1% said they spent all wages on their costs of living and had no savings; 31.6% said their wages could not afford their expenses and they had to borrow; and 26.3% said their wages were high enough for them to have some savings.
Respondents said they would have concern if the minimum daily wage rises to 400 baht. Of all surveyed workers, 85.9% said prices of goods would surely rise and 79% hoped the government could control prices.
Of the respondents, 62% said they were ready to receive skill development training to earn higher wages but 38% said they were not interested. (TNA)
