BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) – Thailand remains attractive to Japanese investors who are injecting more money into the country despite its political transitional period, according to Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
JETRO Bangkok president Hiroki Mitsumata said Japanese investors were continuously interested in investing in Thailand and the latest survey by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok showed that Japanese investors planned to raise their investments in Thailand this year and Thai political changes would not have any impact on their decisions.
He also said that Japanese investors were paying attention to tourism-related business because more Thai people were visiting Japan.
The number of Japanese restaurants in Thailand rose from only 745 in 2007 to 3,004 last year. The number went up by four times in only 11 years, he said. Meanwhile, Japanese investment in production was also growing and Japanese investors were especially interested in hybrid vehicle production in the Eastern Economic Corridor, Mr Mitsumata said.
The JETRO Bangkok president also announced the Sakura Matsuri festival to celebrate the 131st anniversary of Thai-Japanese relations. The event was set at The EmQuartier shopping center in Bangkok on April 26-28. (TNA)
