BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) – The construction of the MRT Blue Line electric railway extension from Hua Lamphong to Lak Song section has been completed and the test run, free rides for the public is expected in July before commercial operation in September.
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA)’s governor, Pakapong Sirikantaramas said that the installation of the train operation system has been 80 per cent complete and trains will be handed in April for testing the signaling system in July.
It will then be able to launch the test run for the public for two months and the commercial service will start in September.
Additional 200,000 passengers will use the service daily, raising the total number of Blue Line passengers to 500,000 people per day.
The extension route consists of four underground stations and seven elevated stations.
From Hua Lamphong Station, it goes along Charoen Krung Road, passing China Town, Wang Burapha.
It then turns left at Wat Poh before crossing under the Chao Phraya River at Pak Khlong Talart. It then reaches Tha Phra Station and runs along Phetcha Kasem Road to Lak Song Station. (TNA)
