SUMUT PRAKAN, March 1 (TNA) – Suvarnabhumi Airport has closed the runway on the eastern side during the nighttime hours from March 1 to May 15.
Wing Cdr Sutheerawat Suwannawat, managing director of Suvarnabhumi airport said under the maintenance plan, the eastern runway will close between 1.30 am. – 8.30 am.and the western runway can handle 34 flights per hour.
After 8.30 a.m. the eastern runway will reopen, so the airport has the capacity to land 68 flights per hours as normal.
Suvarnabhumi Airport has coordinated with Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. and airlines on the first phase of the runway maintenance.
Airlines are not allowed to operate extra flights during the runway closure.
However, the runway maintenance will be suspended during the Thai New Year festival from April 8-19 to serve a large volume of travellers. (TNA)
