CHIANG RAI, Feb 15 (TNA) – A 59-year-old mother who had
been missing from home in Chiang Rai province for eight months was finally
found on R3A Highway in Kunming City about 600 kilometers away.
The overwhelmingly happy moment finally happened to Suchada
Ajor, 35, who rushed to hug Kaewmanee Ajor, her 59-year-old mother who suffered
from Alzheimer’s disease and depression. Both had been apart for eight months
after the mother had gone missing from her home in the northernmost province of
Chiang Rai.
On June 12 last year Mrs Suchada asked police in Muang
Chiang Rai district to look for her mother. Immigration police then contacted
relevant organizations to find the woman.
On Feb 13, the Thai consular office in Kunming informed
Chiang Rai immigration police that Mrs Suchada’s mother was seen walking on R3A
Highway in Kunming. The mother had her ID card and was sent to a local
hospital.
Mrs Suchada arrived in Kunming to meet her mother. Officials
from many organizations including an attaché and Kunming police facilitated her
travel and their return trip.
Mrs Kaewmanee had earlier disappeared from home for about a
month. She had been found in her native district of Mae Chan.
Before the latest disappearance, she had cooked rice but had
not boiled water for her routine coffee drinks. Relatives were still surprised
how Mrs Kaewmanee reached Kunming.
The woman and her daughter boarded China Eastern Airlines
flight MU2597 from Kunming and arrived in Chiang Rai at 12.55pm on Friday.
