BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha pays respect to his teachers on the occasion of the national
Teacher’s Day which falls on January 16.
Prayut chaired the 63rd edition of the annual National
Teacher’s Day at the Teachers’ Council of Thailand.
The retired general paid respect to teachers including
General Kasem Nawasawat, an instructor who taught him at Chulachomklao Royal
Military Academy.
The prime minister called on teachers to utilize as well as
learn pros and cons of technology.
“Social media have much impact on students, teachers, thus,
should be aware and learn about the pros and cons of technology in order to
help students develop “immunity,” he said.
Prayut then presented awards to excellent teachers,
educationists and those contributing to education development.
Thailand celebrates National Teacher’s Day on January 16 to
honour teachers who hold special status in Thai culture. Activities are held highlights the importance
of teachers, from religious rituals to ceremony of paying respect to teachers.
Prayut has also offered a motto which encourages teachers to
adjust and incorporate technology into education.(TNA)
